CampFI: Spain

April 22-26, 2025

CampFI is going International!

With the help and encouragement from Darren and Jolene of the Dare to Draw Down blog, CampFI is going to Spain! We chose Santiago de Compostela in large part because many in the FIRE community have shared their experiences with hiking the Camino and we figured it would be a wonderful way to experience Spain with a friendly group of FI-minded people and to give the opportunity for folks to coordinate their own Camino hiking experience (before or after CampFI), if desired.

I’ve reserved accommodations in a 15th century monastery located in the heart of old town Santiago de Compostela, Spain. It’s a beautiful venue within footsteps of nightlife, museums, hiking, historical buildings and landmarks. Notably, it is also the terminus of the well-known Camino de Santiago pilgrimage.

Deviating from the typical CampFI schedule of a 3 night event from Friday to Monday, CampFI: Spain will be a FOUR night event from Tuesday April 22nd to Saturday April 26th. Your ticket covers all meals, lodging, CampFI presentations and workshops.

Can I get a private room?

The retreat center we are renting has single and shared rooms.  We have 10 single occupancy rooms and 20 double occupancy rooms (40 people). If you prefer a private room, please choose the single occupancy ticket at registration.

All rooms have a full bathroom with shower and hairdryer, telephone, heating and free WIFI internet

How many tickets are there?

We have room for 50 people at this event. We will open up a waiting list and discuss with the retreat center any possibilities of opening up more spots once all the original tickets are sold.

What happens after I register?

After registering, you’ll receive a confirmation email. By the end of September, I’ll send you an invitation to join a virtual meeting to discuss travel planning, activities, and any additional preparation concerns you have. The meeting will be recorded for later reference in case you are unable to jump on the call and will also be shared with future registrants. I expect to host additional meetings as the event nears.

What are your terms and conditions, cancellation policy, and view on travel insurance?

Terms and Conditions

  • Limit two tickets per purchase.
  • If you’re unsure of your attendance or plan to onward sell your ticket(s), do not purchase. Having fully committed, excited attendees is important for planning timelines and creating an extraordinary event!
  • Your participation is required pre-retreat to create a smooth experience for you. The organizer reserves the right to issue a ticket refund if event planning is impeded, e.g. failure to read, respond or action communications.

Cancellation

If you need to cancel, please let me know as soon as possible.
Ticket transfer/resale is allowed (at cost) with permission of organizer.
Considering my limited resources and upfront costs, I have the following cancellation policy.

CampFI: Spain cancellation policy

  • If you cancel before January 15th, 2025, you will forfeit US$200 per person.
  • If you cancel after January 14th, 2025 and before March 15th, 2025 you will forfeit US$400 per person.
  • If you cancel after March 14th, 2025, there will be no refund.

Travel Insurance

I recommend travel insurance with Covid and full medical coverage. Covid taught us that life is uncertain, and things—beyond our control—happen regularly.
