Experience CampFI in a new way this February in New York City.
We’ve combined the CampFI you know and love with an exhilarating travel adventure to the island of Manhattan. Think of it like GlampFI.
Together we’ll enjoy a plush hotel just a few blocks from Times Square. We’ll bond with new friends as we wait in line for half-off Broadway tickets, ascend to the top of the Empire State Building, or hunt for the best pizza in Brooklyn.
We will still have the usual FI talks, but our content schedule will be shorter in order to give us more time to explore NYC.
And don’t worry, we’ll help you connect with other glampers who share your interests. These are just some of the tourist activities you could participate in:*

- Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge

- The Museum of Natural History
- Afternoon tea at the Plaza Hotel
- The Empire State Building
- Walking the High Line

- Taking the (free!) Staten Island ferry past the Statue of Liberty
- A visit to Dominique Ansel bakery, home of the Cronut
- Whatever you can think of!

In addition to everything the city itself has to offer, we’re pulling out all the stops to make this a one-of-a-kind event. A catered welcome reception, cozy hoodies, and delicious buffet breakfasts are just some of what we’ve got planned. FAQs
What does my ticket cover? *
- Three nights of lodging at the Crowne Plaza HY36 Midtown Manhattan
- A catered welcome reception with cash bar
- Three full buffet breakfasts, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options
- The CampFI content you love (one talk each on Sat/Sun), with included coffee/tea/juice/soda bar
- A special edition zip-up hoodie, ONLY available to CFNY participants
- Welcome bag with bottled water, snacks, name tag, and other goodies
- Access to a dedicated WhatsApp group just for CFNY participants, to facilitate planning before and during camp
- An organized Zoom call to chat about CFNY in more detail, and get your remaining questions answered
*You’ll be out exploring the city Saturday and Sunday, so lunch and dinner those days will not be provided by CampFI
New York is intimidating! Will I have help figuring out ground transportation?
Absolutely. Before camp, we’ll share instructions on how to travel to our hotel from all three area airports, as well as some general info about the New York subway system and navigating Manhattan. We’ll also create a spreadsheet where campers can share arrival/departure times, so groups can self-organize to meet up at the airports and travel to the hotel together.
Can I get my own room?
Yes, choose a single occupancy ticket.
How are roommates decided?
If you register for a double occupancy ticket, you will share a room. If there’s someone specific you’d like to be paired with, please notify Stephen at campfi.org@gmail.com ASAP (don’t forget to Cc your requested roommate). Otherwise, you will be paired with someone of the same gender. If you buy your tickets on the same order, you’ll be paired together as roommates by default.
New York in February?! Won’t it be cold? What if there’s a snowstorm?
Yes it will likely be cold. The average high temp in late February is 44F. Pack your layers. Due to possible inclement weather, we recommend keeping your calendar flexible for 1-2 days before and after camp. Unfortunately, we will not be able to issue last-minute refunds due to weather or impacted flights, so please plan accordingly.
Can I use my points or stay at a different hotel, and still participate in CampFI activities for a reduced price?
No. We know you love to use points, and we totally get it. However, we are limited by the size of the meeting space at our host hotel.
How big will CampFI: New York be?
Our maximum capacity is 60 attendees.
I have limited mobility, can I still attend?
While our hotel is fully accessible, the island of Manhattan is a challenging landscape for anyone with limited mobility. Our organized outings will include a fair bit of walking, as well as navigating lots of stairs within the subway system, large crowds, noisy areas, etc. If you have limited mobility and want to attend a CampFI, other locations may be easier.

CampFI is for anyone wanting to connect with fellow financial independence enthusiasts. Whether you’re tackling debt, are in the accumulation phase, or you’ve already reached FI, you are welcome here.
